22nd World Architecture Congress To Be Held In Istanbul In 2005

ISTANBUL - The Union of International Architects (UIA) 22nd World Architecture Congress and 23rd General Assembly will be held in Istanbul between July 1 and 10, 2005.
Union of Chambers of Turkish Architects and Engineers (TMMOB) Chamber of Architects Chairman Yucel Gursel said on Saturday that the meetings would be organized in cooperation with the Istanbul Municipality.
Gursel said that about 7-8 thousand architects from all over the world would come together in Istanbul in 2005.
Meanwhile, UIA Istanbul Congress Chairman Suha Ozkan said that the meetings would be held in Lutfi Kirdar International Congress and Exhibition Hall.
UIA Chairman Jamie Lerner said that an international contest would be held during the meetings under the title of ''Celebration of Cities''.
Lerner added that they expected nearly 50 thousand projects from 700 cities to participate in the contest.
