KIZILCAHAMAM - Moral Rights Workers Union (Hak-Is) Chairman Salim Uslu said on Wednesday that many European norms were ''ignored'' in the new Labor Law.
Speaking in the seminar on EU, Social Policies and Trade Union Movement organized by Hak-Is and European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), Uslu said that EU was Turkey's 43-year dream and national policy.
Uslu noted that workers supported that national policy of Turkey.
Stating that the most important aspect of EU for the workers was ''social policy model'', Uslu said that they were excited about that.
Emphasizing that the EU tried to strengthen social state and welfare in a period when social state was excluded, Uslu noted that Turkey would end many taboos with the sixth adjustment package.
Uslu drew the attention that European norms should not ''be ignored'' to record a progress in integration with the EU and full membership.
Many laws which were the basic policy of the EU were passed with numerical majority not with compromise like the new Labor Law, Uslu stated.
Uslu said that non-governmental organizations should be strengthened and their views should be asked.
Turkey should take place in the world first league to become a modern country, Uslu said.
Uslu pointed out that policies that would provide social justice and justice in distribution of income should be followed.
They wanted Turkey to stop its relations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Uslu said.
Uslu noted that IMF proposed stable policies to Turkey and those increased social problems.
''We welcome the statements of the prime minister that relations with IMF will be cut in 2004. But, with which mechanism the problems will be solved after that should be put forth. We want to know how the social justice will be ensured. If it is not done, cutting relations with IMF will be nothing but a slogan.''
