BURSA - Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan lodged a complaint about Young Party (GP) leader Cem Uzan due to his speech in northwestern Bursa province on Wednesday.
Istanbul bar lawyers Necmettin Aydýn and Nevzat Er came to Bursa and they lodged complaint about Young Party (GC) leader Cem Uzan, STAR TV and Kanal 6 tv channels on behalf of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and AK Party.
Speaking to A.A, Er said that they lodged complaint about Uzan and two tv channels for insulting Prime Minister and AK Party through broadcasting.
Er stated that preparations were also made for filing a law suit against Uzan and two channels asking for compensation, adding that ''our friends in Ankara can also file a suit asking for compensation. Their studies continue.''
Officials of Bursa Chief Prosecutor's office said that the complaint of the lawyers would be examined under Articles 480, 482 and 273 articles of Turkish Penal Code (TCK). If a crime is found, a suit could be filed, they said.
Article 480 of TCK punishes crime of ''insult,'' Article 482 regulates punishments about ''cursing'' and Article 273 increases punishments for the crime committed against civil servants.
Meanwhile, Bursa Chief Prosecutor's office sent a letter to Justice Ministry asking for permission to launch an investigation about Uzan. If Justice Ministry permits launching of an investigation, an investigation will be opened under Article 159 of TCK for insulting a state official.
