ANKARA - AK Party deputy Emin Sirin sent a letter to Energy Minister Hilmi Guler on Wednesday noting that the law on approval of the Blue Stream Project could be taken to the Constitutional Court for being against the Constitution.
Sirin claimed in his letter which was also conveyed to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan as an information note that Blue Stream agreement was ''a very strange agreement which had to be objected.''
''According to the agreement approved by the law, the price of the natural gas to be purchased is not known. Under Article 2 of the agreement, the technical, administrative and application conditions of delivery of 16 billion cubic meters of additional natural gas which will be transported from Russia to Turkey by the pipeline to be laid through the Black Sea, will be determined by the contract to be signed between Turkish Pipeline company (BOTAS) and VEP Gazesport-RAO Gazprom. For instance, if BOTAS decides to buy natural gas from Russians five times more than the price in the world, then we will be in a position to accept it in advance. I think that this has to be considered within the framework of Article 152 of the Constitution. If the law is objected at Ankara Regional Administration Court saying that it is against the Constitution, the court can consider the objection seriously and apply to the Constitutional Court for its annulment. As the negotiations with Russians about Blue Stream continue, I wish you to examine the issue as soon as possible,'' Sirin wrote in his letter.
