TIRANA - Air Forces Commander Cumhur Asparuk joined on Tuesday the inauguration ceremony of first phase of Kucove Military Airport Modernization Project in Albania.
The project was put into practice within the scope of the technical protocol signed between Albanian Defense Ministry and Turkish Air Forces Command in 2001.
Albanian Air Forces Commander Astrit Yaupi, who also attended the meeting, said that cooperation with their Turkish colleagues not only pointed to the success of the Albanian Air Forces but also was a step taken towards their NATO membership.
Yaupi noted that they appreciated contributions of Turkish Air Forces to the modernization of Kucove Airport.
Tower, transformer, generator, water well, and energy lines, the construction of which were completed, became operational in the ceremony.
Renovation of main runway, emergency runway, taxi lines and fleet building, and environmental betterment continue.
