ANKARA - Parliamentary Justice Commission will discuss the Sixth Adjustment Package on Wednesday.
According to the bill which has 22 articles, state and private radio and television channels can broadcast in different languages and dialects which are traditionally used by Turkish citizens in their daily lives. Supreme Board of Radio and Television (RTUK) will prepare a regulation about the procedures and principles of the broadcasts that will be made in different languages and dialects.
Supreme Board of Election (YSK) will warn private radio and tv channels which will broadcast against the principles to be determined or ask that channel to apologize in an open way in its broadcast. If that channel does not abide with this demand or if it repeats that violation, then YSK will stop the broadcast of the programme which violated the principles. The administrators of those private radio and tv channels whose broadcast is stopped, will be punished to pay a fine changing between 10 billion liras and 85 billion Turkish liras.
Children cannot be named contrary to the ethical rules and in a way that will hurt the public opinion.
The bill abolishes Article Eight of the Anti-Terrorism Law and excludes National Security Council (NSC) Secretariat General from the Cinema and Video Products Inspection Board.
The broadcasting ban of one week in election periods is narrowed by 24 hours before the election date.
Observers of the international and regional organizations to which Turkey is a member of and the observers of the countries member to these organizations, and the observers of the international non-governmental organizations which are considered convenient by the government, can only monitor the elections in Turkey.
Worship places can be built by taking the permission of head of public administration in provinces, towns and villages and in line with development laws. The bill gives extra period to foundations of religious communities to officially register their immovable properties.
