Gul Receives Unicef Director General Bellamy

ISTANBUL - Acting Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul received UNICEF Director General Carol Bellamy in Istanbul on Monday.
The meeting at the Conrad Hotel, which was close to press, lasted nearly twenty minutes. Also State Minister Guldal Aksit attended the meeting.
Replying questions of reporters after the meeting, Aksit said that Bellamy who had come to Turkey the day before for the ''All Children Have Equal Rights'' campaign, visited Gul and informed him on the campaign.
She said that the campaign would mostly cover eastern province of Van, which aimed to give basic education to girls.
Noting that the government supported the campaign which could be considered continuation of eight years of compulsory basic education campaign, Aksit said that girls who had no formal education would be educated under the campaign.
Aksit added that another campaign would be initiated in Istanbul for rehabilitation of homeless children under the same campaign.
