GUL:WE ARE RESOLVED ABOUT UZANLAR
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul said that necessary things would be done regarding the expressions which Cem Uzan, the leader of the Young Party used for Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Gul stated that ''the laws are same and equal for everybody.'' Meanwhile Turkey Electricity Production Incorporation (TEUAS) took over the administration in Cukurova Electricity (CEAS) which was owned by Uzanlar Holding.

ERDOGAN:TURKEY TO CONTINUE WITHOUT IMF AFTER 2004
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the target of the government was to implement the economic programme seriously until the end of 2004 and then to continue the way without making another stand-by agreement with IMF.

BRITISH TOBACCO GIANT IN AEGEAN
Imperia Tobacco, the British tobacco giant bought a land in western Manisa province to make investment. The company waits for permission of the Tobacco Board to produce cigarette and tobacco paper. The company bought the land in Manisa Organized Industry Region.

GUL PROPOSES COOPERATION TO POWELL
Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul sent a letter to U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell prior to the visit of Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Ugur Ziyal to Washington D.C. and proposed cooperation in Iraq. Gul said in his letter that the installation of peace in Iraqi society was very important, and said Turkey could help. Gul noted that Turkey was ready to contribute to normalization of the life in Iraq.

PM ERDOGAN SAYS NO NEW STANDBY IN 2004
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan who made a general assessment about his visit to Malaysia gave message that Turkey would end its relations with International Monetary Fund (IMF). Upon a question, Erdogan said, ''we aim to implement this economic program till the end of 2004 and then we want to walk on our way with our own efforts without signing a new standby agreement.'' Erdogan noted that the internal and external debt stocks of Turkey were ''disaster'', adding that the debt of Turkey to IMF started to lessen gradually. Turkey owed 21 billion dollars to IMF, said Erdogan adding that the government borrowed 700 million dollars from IMF due to the previous agreements signed. Erdogan stressed that Turkey would pay its debt to IMF.

TURKISH AND FOREIGN SCULPTORS MAKE 13 WORKS OF ART IN 36 DAYS
Turkish and foreign sculptors who attended the first Hacettepe University International Stone Sculpture Symposium in Ankara made 13 sculptures within 36 days. Those works of art will be exhibited in the art park at Hacettepe University.

GREECE DOES NOT STOP
EU Term President Greece's Defense Minister Papandoniu claimed that the real administration in Turkey was not in the hands of the government, asserting that generals directed Turkey. The Greek Minister even threatened to block the starting of full membership negotiations between EU and Turkey. Greek Cypriot administration's Foreign Minister George Yakovu claimed that Turkey would not be admitted to EU without recognizing another EU member (Greek Cypriot side) and while continuing its ''invasion'' on that country's territory.

TURKEY'S PROBLEM IS DEMOCRACY
Hansjoerg Kretschemer, European Union (EU) Commission's Turkey Representative said that the adoption of the sixth adjustment package by the parliament would bring Turkey closer to EU criteria. Referring to the importance of Turkey's getting civilian for full implementation of democracy, Kretschmer asserted that ''if there is an important influence of Turkish Armed Forces on policy in Turkey, this means a shortcoming in respect of democracy...The government has gained the chance of undertaking necessary reforms, the EU knows that this is the only chance of Turkey and EU will extend support to make Turkey a country of liberal democracy.''

ERDOGAN:TRNC SHOULD BE MEMBER OF OIC
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan asked Malaysia, which will be the President of Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) to admit TRNC as a full member to OIC. Speaking during his contacts in Malaysia, Erdogan said that he asked Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir to upgrade the status of TRNC in OIC from observer to full member. Erdogan noted that Malaysian Prime Minister was warm to that idea.

WARM MESSAGES FROM U.S.
U.S. Department of State's political planning director Richard Haas gave warm messages to Turkey prior to the visit of Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Ugur Ziyal to the U.S. Haas said that the U.S. and Turkey had interests in Iraq, adding the U.S. wanted to talk about these issues. ''The two countries have common interests beyond Iraq, too,'' he added.

PM ERDOGAN SAYS TURKEY'S RELATIONS WITH IMF TO END IN 2004
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey's relations with IMF would end at the end of 2004. Erdogan who made a general assessment about his visit to Malaysia replied to questions of Turkish and Malaysian reporters. When a reporter said a standby agreement would be signed with IMF in 2004, Erdogan said, ''we aim to implement this economic program till the end of 2004 and then we want to walk on our way with our own efforts without signing a new standby agreement.'' Erdogan also visited 452 meter high Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur and was briefed about the towers. Later Erdogan watched Kuala Lumpur from 83rd floor of the tower.

UNAKITAN, PEPE AND MUMCU EXERTING EFFORTS FOR IMPROVEMENT OF TOURISM IN ANTALYA
Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan, Environment and Forestry Minister Osman Pepe and Culture and Tourism Minister Erkan Mumcu who attended AK Party Antalya provincial meeting said that they were carrying out very important studies in Antalya to further improve tourism sector. Unakitan said that they would pave the way for economy by carrying out very important studies in tourism sector in Antalya.

INTERIOR MINISTER AKSU GIVES GOOD NEWS ABOUT HABUR
Interior Minister Abdulkadir Aksu said that they would open Habur border gate as soon as possible. Aksu who came to southeastern Mardin province visited Dayrulzarafan Monastery. Stating that a delegation was formed for Habur border gate, Aksu said, ''we held our first meeting on the issue with four ministers. We will visit the region as soon as possible. We will open Habur border gate soon and it will start to serve. We are also holding meetings on other gates opening to Middle East.''

EXPLOSION IN STAR'S OFFICE IN IZMIR
An explosion took place in the office of Star Newspaper in Izmir on Saturday. No casualties were reported. A bomb which was placed on the basement floor of the office of Star Newspaper exploded around 12.00 local time on Akdeniz Street of Pasaport district of Izmir. The windows of the building were broken during the explosion. Police took tight measures around the building and launched investigation about the incident.
