ANKARA - State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Sahin said on Friday that they would continue to support Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in sports.
Sahin met with Labor, Social Security, Youth and Sports Minister Ahmet Kasif of TRNC.
Speaking after the meeting, Sahin said, ''we exchanged views on developments of all kinds of sports in TRNC and efforts to lift embargo imposed on TRNC in international platforms.''
''Works have been continuing in line with the protocol which was signed between Turkey and the TRNC in 1995. Under the new protocol we signed on January 16, 2003, our relations have been continuing in sports,'' he said.
Sahin added, ''we reviewed the practices. We exchanged views about implementation of law on TRNC citizens' becoming Turkish citizens. We allocated 500 billion Turkish lira from our 2003 budget to be used in sports in TRNC.''
