Tezcan Meets With Officials Of Armenian Assembly Of America

WASHINGTON D.C. - Ministry of Foreign Affairs Intelligence and Research Office Director General Ecvet Tezcan, who has been holding meetings with representatives of Armenian organizations and society in New York and Washington D.C., came together with officials of the Armenian Assembly of America (AAA).
Tezcan came to the United States in the beginning of the week under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' efforts to set up direct contacts with Armenian organizations and leaders in the United States.
After holding meetings with U.S. officials, Tezcan will proceed from Washington D.C. to Los Angeles to come together with representatives of Armenian society.
Earlier, the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) said, ''Turkey should recognize Armenian genocide first'' and called on other Armenian organization not to hold meetings with Tezcan.
However, AAA did not take into consideration this warning.
Turkish diplomatic sources in Washington D.C. said that timing of Tezcan's visit to the United States was totally a coincidence.
ANCA claimed earlier that Turkey launched such an initiative with the concern about progress of the resolution on indirect recognition of so-called Armenian genocide, which was brought onto agenda of the U.S. Senate this week.
