BAKU - Health Minister Recep Akdag, who is currently in Azerbaijan, visited Agcabedi refugee camp on Thursday.
Akdag came together with refugees and listened to their problems.
Stating that Turkey was always beside refugees who had to leave their land under Armenian occupation, Akdag said that he hoped that refugees would return to their houses as soon as possible.
Akdag told reporters that studies in the camp were very successful and stated that cooperation in health field between the two countries was continuing.
Turkish Ambassador in Baku Unal Cevikoz who chatted with refugees said that they launched health check-up in refugee camps in the region.
Azerbaijani Health Minister Ali Insanov who accompanies Akdag during his visit said that refugees would return to their land soon and stated that Turkey made very important contributions to health system of Azerbaijan.
There are 1140 men, 1623 women and 835 children in Agcabedi camp where health check-up was started by Health Ministry with support of Turkish Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) upon demand of Azerbaijani Health Ministry.
Health personnel who examined people in the camp said that 1162 microfilms were taken so far and stated that a person had tuberculosis.
Turkish health team will proceed to Berde camp after the team completed health check-up in Agcabedi camp.
A total of 2648 men, 3096 women and 2510 children will undergo check-up in Berde camp.
Turkish embassy in Baku extended 30,000 U.S. dollars of foodstuff to 2260 families in the camp.
Akdag and accompanying delegation left Agcabedi camp for Sheki.
