EXPORTS INCREASE BY 30.3 PERCENT AND IMPORTS BY 22.3 PERCENT IN APRIL 2003
ANKARA - Turkey's exports increased by 30.3 percent and imports rose by 22.3 percent in April 2003.
The State Institute of Statistics (DIE) announced foreign trade figures of April.
According to the results, Turkey exported goods of 3 billion 597.8 million U.S. dollars and imported goods of 5 billion 153.1 million U.S. dollars.
The foreign trade deficit rose 7.2 percent from 1 billion 451 million 955 thousand U.S. dollars to 1 billion 556 million 68 thousand U.S. dollars in April 2003 when compared to the same month of 2002.
The rate of exports meeting imports increased from 65.5 percent to 69.8 percent.
In the January-April period, exports increased 30.6 percent to 13 billion 950.9 million U.S. dollars, and imports rose 32.3 percent to 19 billion 278.5 million U.S. dollars.
The foreign trade deficit rose 37 percent to 5 billion 327 million 84 U.S. dollars.
The rate of exports meeting imports decreased from 73.3 percent to 72.4 percent.
