ISTANBUL - National Education Minister Huseyin Celik went to Ireland on Thursday as the guest of Ireland Minister of Education and Science Noel Dempsey.
Releasing a statement prior to his departure, Celik said that there were no agreements between two countries regarding culture and education until now.
Noting that Ireland, which made an important development progress in recent years, was on an advanced level in vocational education, Celik said that they would like to benefit from Ireland's experience.
Emphasizing that Ireland was a country which supported Turkey's accession to the European Union (EU), Celik said that they aimed to increase education and culture relations which were on minimum level with this country to a higher level.
Celik said that they would take up issues during the meetings such as teacher and expert exchange between two countries, exchange of expert, information, education methods and materials in vocational and technical training fields, assigning bilateral scholarship, starting sister school project in elementary and secondary education and bilateral invitations in youth activities and scouting camps.
Celik said that signing of ''Education Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding'' was envisioned between ministries of two countries after the meetings which would be held in Dublin.
