ISTANBUL - State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullatif Sener left for Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday to attend the 13th Meeting of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Council of Ministers.
Addressing journalists at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport prior to his departure, Sener said, ''the region in which member countries to the ECO take place is of great importance for Turkey to activate its economic potential. Countries have been setting up regional economic cooperation ties in order to decrease negative impacts of globalization to the minimum level and to benefit from advantages of globalization.''
''Countries setting up regional economic cooperation ties, have been trying to activate their economic potentials. The region in which member countries to the ECO take place is of great importance for Turkey to activate its economic potential. The ECO will have important functions to decrease negative impacts of globalization to the minimum level and to benefit from advantages of globalization. The meeting aims at developing economic cooperation among the regional countries. During the meeting, liberalization of trade among these countries and measures to develop this trade will be taken up,'' he added.
