ANKARA - Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim said on Tuesday that the fuel used by commercial vessels was very expensive and they were planning to either decrease or cancel the taxes taken from that fuel on Cabotage Festival on July 1.
Yildirim spoke on behalf of the government in return to the parliamentary inquiry motion presented by some deputies both from AK Party and CHP, about problems of maritime sector.
Yildirim said that sea transport was the cheapest and the most reliable method of transportation, adding that the government aimed to reduce the port fees to the amount taken in Mediterranean and regional countries. He added that there was no need for parliamentary inquiry in this issue, as the government was aware of the problems of the sector and the solution methods.
