Basesgioglu: Turkey Is Not Included In The List, Which Is Called As Black List, This Year

GENEVA - Labor and Social Security Minister Murat Basesgioglu said on Monday that this year Turkey was not included in the list, which was called as black list, in this year's International Labor Organization (ILO) conference.
Speaking to A.A. correspondent, Basesgioglu said this was pleasing for Turkey, stating that Turkey had been criticized almost in every conference so far. He said Turkey was not criticized this year.
Basesgioglu said, ''recent legal amendments and implementations were appreciated here. We are pleased over this. This will encourage us for the studies we will carry out in the next term. We will take more bold steps regarded with adjusting our labor regulations to European standards and ILO norms.''
Responding to a question, Basesgioglu said Turkey was exposed to various evaluations in ILO reports regarded with unions of civil servants, stating that there was no opposition at the time being regarding civil servant unions.
Basesgioglu said his ministry carried out a study to change Law on Civil Servants' Unions, adding that Turkey would be stronger in next year's ILO meeting.
Labor and Social Security Minister Basesgioglu, within the scope of his contacts in Geneva, will meet with Azerbaijani Labor and Social Protection Minister Ali Nagiyef.
Basesgioglu will later meet with ILO Deputy Director General and Europe and Central Asia Director Friedrich Buttlei, and ILO Director General Juhan Somavia.
