TRABZON - Spanish Land Forces Commander Luis Alejandre Sintes and an accompanying military delegation came to northeastern Trabzon province on Sunday to thank Turkish officials for their efforts after the plane crash which happened on May 26.
Internal Security Brigade Commander Rauf Altinok and Gendarme Regional Commander Halil Ibrahim Tuysuz held a meeting with the Spanish military delegation which lasted for half an hour.
Altinok gave information about plane crash and Sintes thanked Turkish officials for their efforts.
After the meeting, Sintes and the accompanying delegation observed a minute of silence in the memory of Spanish soldiers who died in the plane crash.
The Spanish delegation later left Trabzon for Spain.
An Ukrainian plane carrying Spanish peace force soldiers from Afghan capital Kabul crashed in Kockine region of Macka town of northeastern Trabzon province on May 26.
A total of 62 Spanish soldiers, one Belarussian and 12 Ukrainian crew members died in the accident.
