ISTANBUL - Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday that nobody should try to obstruct Turkey on the way to the European Union (EU) membership.
Erdogan participated in opening ceremony of Carrefoursa Shopping Mall in Bayrampasa district.
Speaking at the ceremony, Erdogan said Turkey was on the way to the EU, stating that 2004 would be a very meaningful year for Turkey with respect to the EU.
Erdogan said Turkey would take a date in 2004 to start full membership negotiations, and noted that the government was resolved in this respect.
Erdogan said Turkish business world supported EU process.
Erdogan said, ''all the capital circles who want our country to integrate with the world, should show their determination by integrating with people. We don't want a Turkey which is disrupted by trivial problems. We should be determined in this respect. Wherever the world and Europe reached, Turkey should catch it.''
