Baykal Says His Party Can Support Sixth Adjustment Package

ANTALYA - Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal said on Saturday that they could support the sixth adjustment package prepared by the government in the European Union (EU) accession process and added, ''Turkey should not be turned into a country which is obliged to prepare new packages continuously.''
Replying to questions of reporters, Baykal said that they should firstly see the package before they supported it.
Baykal noted, ''we believe that Turkey should take place in the EU. Many arrangements have been made regarding this issue and should be made. Turkey should not be shown as a country which continuously has deficiencies. Our views about democratization and mother tongue are certain. Now, we don't know what the sixth adjustment package contains. The government has prepared a package but we haven't seen it yet. We will do what is beneficial for Turkey.''
