IZMIT - ''Seawolf-2003'', one of the planned maneuvers of the Naval Forces Command, will start on Thursday.
Releasing a statement, the Fleet Command Secretariat General said on Wednesday that ships that would participate in the maneuver would be under command of Fleet Commander Admiral Ozden Ornek, and they would depart from Marmaris's Aksaz port, Istanbul's Umuryeri port, Izmir and Golcuk ports early on Thursday.
It said that 14 frigates, 15 assault boats, 8 submarines, 14 outpost ship/GS boats, 3 mine sweepers, 12 assistant ships, 3 CAS CN-235 planes, 6 AB-212 helicopters, 2 SEA-HAWK helicopters, and 2 special force teams from the Naval Forces Command, and fixed and mobile radars on coast, radio stations and logistic support facilities would participate in Seawolf-03. Besides, warplanes from the Air Forces Command would join the maneuver for maritime-air training.
The maneuver will be exercised in four stages: 'electronic battle and air defense war training in the Marmara Sea, submarine defense training in Aegean Sea and Mediterranean Sea and maritime-air cooperation training. The maneuver will end on June 10', it added.
