ANKARA - Red Crescent Chairman Ertan Gonen gave on Tuesday a donation check worth of 20 thousand U.S. dollars to China's Ankara Ambassador Kuangyi Yao for fight against Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
Gonen said while presenting the check that China was a strong country and he believed that it would solve the problem in a short time.
Noting that they aimed to contribute the struggle of Chinese people by supporting the campaign started for fight against SARS, Gonen said that Chinese government had always supported Turkey in case of a disaster.
Yao thanked for the check and said that two countries had always helped each other in case of a disaster.
Recalling that SARS had started in China and the number of SARS cases was high, Yao said that Chinese government took all necessary and effective measures for the treatment and control of the disease.
Noting that the disease was taken under control at the moment, Yao said, ''we will overcome this disease as soon as possible with the support and help of all international society including Turkey. We trust ourselves.''
