Number Of Foreign Visitors Decreases By 21.4 Percent In April

ANKARA - Number of foreign visitors decreased 21.4 percent to 665 thousand 167 in April of 2003.
In the same period last year, 846 thousand 416 foreigners visited Turkey.
The State Institute of Statistics (DIE) announced numbers of arriving and departing visitors in April of 2003.
Number of foreign visitor preferring airway decreased by 27.8 percent, number of foreign visitor preferring seaway dropped by 10 percent, number of foreign visitors preferring highway reduced by 1.2 percent and number of foreign visitors preferring railway decreased by 32.8 percent.
Meanwhile, a total of 318 thousand 460 Turkish citizens entered Turkey in April. In the same period last year, 357 thousand 699 Turkish citizens entered Turkey. Number of Turkish citizens entering Turkey decreased by 11 percent.
A total of 538 thousand 792 foreigners and 301 thousand 105 Turkish citizens departed from Turkey.
Meanwhile, number of arriving foreign visitors decreased 11.3 percent to 2 million 808 thousand in the January-April period of 2003.
In the same period last year, 2 million 254 thousand foreign visitors came to Turkey.
Number of departing foreign visitors decreased 5.5 percent to 1 million 901 thousand 641.
