ISTANBUL - Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said on Saturday, ''the world has begun to understand importance of Turkey.''
Gul attended graduation ceremony at Istanbul's Kadir Has University.
Speaking at the ceremony, Gul said, ''crises have come to an end considerably. Our country has a brilliant future. Turkey is about to meet with a great vision like the European Union (EU). The world has begun to understand importance of Turkey.''
''Recently, Turkey has achieved great successes in sports and art. Our students have great opportunities. The most important investment is the one in education. Being aware of it, our government attributes great importance to education, universities and academic life. We have been expending efforts to make our universities centers of freedom, democracy, independence and free thought,'' he added.
