Dogan: We Want To Get A Share In Rebuilding Of Iraq

ISTANBUL - Foreign Trade Deputy Undersecretary Omer Faruk Dogan said on Thursday that they wanted to get a share in rebuilding of Iraq.
The ''U.N. Tender Procedures Seminar'' which was organized by the Foreign Trade Undersecretariat and the United Nations started in Istanbul.
The seminar aims to increase the share of Turkish companies in tenders of the United Nations which annually purchases four billion U.S. dollars of goods and services.
Speaking at the seminar, Dogan said that Turkish companies had achieved great successes in international tenders, and they wanted to reflect this experience on the U.N.'s projects for development of humanity.
Noting that the money which was mentioned about rebuilding of Iraq was one hundred billion U.S. dollars, Dogan said, ''the private sector which fulfils the job even under most difficult conditions is the Turkish private sector.''
Meanwhile, speaking at the seminar, U.N. Coordinator for Turkey Jacob Simonsen said that the United Nations annually purchased four billion U.S. dollars of goods and services in the world.
Noting that the Turkish private sector got a very low rate of share in those purchase tenders due to lack of information, Simonsen said that with this seminar, they aimed to inform the Turkish business world and have it take more share in international tenders.
Simonsen added that they thought that the United Nations would make use of Turkey's competitive goods and services.
