BURSA - Evgeny Genev, the trade attache of the Bulgarian Consulate General in Istanbul, said on Wednesday that Turkish companies' total investments in Bulgaria was about 150 million U.S. dollars.
Speaking at a meeting at the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO), Genev stressed importance of the dialogue between Turkish and Bulgarian businessmen. Noting that commercial delegations coming from several cities in Bulgaria signed contracts mostly with businessmen in Istanbul, Genev said that they wanted to pay such visits also to Bursa.
Recalling that Bulgaria had made 10 million U.S. dollars investment in Turkey in 2002, which was an important figure for Bulgarian businessmen, Genev said that lack of information about Turkey played important role in such less investments.
Noting that Turkish companies invested in textiles, tourism, paper and food sectors in Bulgaria, Genev said, ''Turkish companies' total investments in Bulgaria is about 150 million U.S. dollars. It is time to invest in Bulgaria which is going to be a European Union member soon. We are expecting interest of more Turkish investors.''
Genev added that an important progress had been recorded in issue of visa, and said he thought that existing problems would be solved in near future.
