LEFKOSA - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu said on Wednesday that aid which the European Union (EU) Commission would extend to Turkish Cypriot people should be extended to the state which should distribute them to people.
Upon questions of reporters before the meeting of TRNC Council of Ministers, Eroglu said that it was observed that an attitude has been exhibited aiming to show Turkish Cypriot people as if they were minority in regulations on export.
Stating that EU Commission's economic support package for TRNC which was mentioned in the press was ''an attitude toward elections'' which would be held in TRNC in December, Eroglu said that if these figures and their distribution that was mentioned in the press reflected the truth, then it was seen as an act which directly targets general elections in December.
Eroglu said that if shape of distribution of aid which was mentioned in the press reflected the truth, then EU intervened in interior affairs of TRNC.
Eroglu said, ''if an institution is to contribute to a state, then mechanisms of that state will start to operate.''
He added that if there would be a distribution through democratic mass organizations, unions and great city municipalities, another intention should be sought here.
''These are news stories which were mentioned in Greek Cypriot press. Different assessments can be made after definite decisions come out on June 4,'' Eroglu noted.
Upon a question on EU's regulations on export from TRNC, Eroglu said, ''there is not any definite thing regarding the issue. But if export will be made from ports in Greek Cypriot side, there is an attitude to show Turkish Cypriot people as if they were minority.''
