TEHRAN - The 30th meeting of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Foreign Ministers will start in Iranian capital Tehran on Wednesday.
Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul will represent Turkey at the meeting.
Gul, who is currently in Crete Island of Greece to attend the European-Mediterranean Foreign Ministers' Meeting, is expected to proceed to Tehran later on Tuesday.
He will hold a series of bilateral meetings in Tehran.
President Mohammed Khatami of Iran will make the opening remark of the meeting.
Issues such as future of Iraq, latest developments in the Middle East peace process, the road map, which was presented to Israel and Palestine, recent developments in Afghanistan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, Somali, Chechnya and Kashmir, international fight against terrorism, disarmament and problems of religious minorities in countries, which are not members of the OIC, will be taken up at the meeting.
Representatives of 57 member countries, observer countries, regional and international organizations religious minorities and communities and several other specialized institutions will attend the meeting.
Qatar has been acting as the current term president of the OIC. Next term president will be Malaysia.
