ISTANBUL - Sertab Erener, who won the Eurovision Song Contest held last Saturday in Latvia with her song ''Every Way That I Can'', came to Istanbul on Monday.
Erener and her team were welcomed with flowers at Ataturk Airport.
Speaking in a news conference, Erener said that they were abroad for more than 20 days due to the contest. Noting that they worked very hard for the contest, Erener said that they practiced for two days before the contest.
''I would like to thank Turkish people who supported us with their energy,'' said Erener.
Erener remarked that her winning the contest in the name of Turkey would positively affect her music career, recalling that the contest would be held in Turkey next year. ''Next year it will be harder for us, we must work hard,'' Erener said thanking Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT).
Erener said she would go to Ankara on Tuesday and meet with President Ahmet Necdet Sezer, Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
