ANKARA - National Education Ministry and UNICEF will start a campaign for girls who are at the age of going to schools in ten provinces where number of schools are few.
The protocol of the campaign will be signed in June. The campaign will be implemented in June in eastern Agri, Hakkari, Bingol, Bitlis, Mus, Siirt, Sanliurfa, Sirnak and Van provinces.
The campaign which is supported by public institutions and non-governmental organizations will be broadened to 50 provinces until the end of 2005.
According to figures of UNICEF, 40 percent of schoolgirls do not complete elementary education and 25 percent of girls were not even registered to schools.
Net registration ratio in elementary school, ratio of completing elementary school, ratio of attendance to school, number of girls out of school system on the age of education and obstacles before education of girls will be determined within the scope of the project.
Officials who serve children such as teachers, religious officials, nurses and social services officials will also be trained within the scope of the project.
