ANKARA - State Minister Kursad Tuzmen stressed on Friday the effect of direct foreign capital on growth and globalization and said, ''as economy starts to recover, more foreign capital will flow in Turkey.''
Speaking in the Turkish-Canadian Cooperation Meeting, Tuzmen said that the government was working to reduce bureaucracy together with the World Bank and that this initiative was important for the economic program.
Tuzmen noted that this year's export target of Turkey was 40 billion and its import target was 60 billion U.S. dollars.
Turkey's trade volume would reach 100 billion U.S. dollars, which was an important figure, Tuzmen stated.
Explaining the low inflation and macro stability targets, Tuzmen said that they started to see the results of economic recovery.
Emphasizing that Turkey had made significant economic and structural reforms, Tuzmen said that small and efficient public management was targeted.
Canadian Secretary of State Gar Knutson drew the attention to importance of political stability and good management for improvement of liberal economy and said that they expected the Turkish government to continue the confidence-building efforts.
Knutson said that Turkey would become the engine of growth and wealth as the IMF-backed economic program was fully implemented.
Turkey had exerted efforts to establish close relations with the European Union (EU) for 40 years, Knutson noted.
Knutson added that Turkey had a bright future and that it would be a bridge between Europe and Asia.
