Firat: Sixth Adjustment Package Will Be Brought Onto Agenda Of Parliament As Soon As Possible And Be Accepted

ANKARA - Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Deputy leader Dengir Mir Mehmet Firat said on Monday that the content of sentences in the sixth adjustment package could be discussed in National Security Council (NSC) and added that the package would be brought onto agenda of Parliament as soon as possible and would be accepted.
Firat told reporters after AK Party Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting that AK Party leader and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan had made a general presentation regarding domestic and foreign problems in the meeting and evaluated the meeting that was held in Antalya in the weekend. Firat said that MYK members had also expressed their views concerning the meeting.
When asked whether the statements which were reflected to public opinion regarding the objection of NSC Secretary General Tuncer Kilinc about the sixth adjustment package were brought onto agenda in MYK meeting, Firat said that especially the European Union (EU) issue was brought onto agenda in the meeting.
Emphasizing that studies on EU would rapidly continue, Firat said that Parliament would continue its activities in a part of July and September. Recalling that there were deficient arrangements regarding EU, Firat said that legal deficiencies would be eliminated during that process.
Firat said that neighbor countries and Cyprus issue were also discussed in the meeting.
Firat said that there would be a momentum in relations with EU and there would be a chance to see the heads of states and governments of EU member countries in Turkey while Prime Minister and Foreign Minister would pay required visits.
When a reporter repeated the question whether the warnings of Kilinc were brought onto agenda during the meeting, Firat said, ''you take it as warning... I do not think that Kilinc has an authority to make such a warning. Such an issue can be discussed in NSC; it is a constitutional platform, it can be discussed there. Recommendatory decision can also be taken. Sentences taking place in the sixth adjustment package are the issues that Turkey has decided to change. Thus, it cannot be considered not to include those in adjustment package, but they can be discussed in NSC in content. Perhaps they will be discussed. The sixth adjustment package will be brought onto agenda of Parliament as soon as possible and will be accepted.''
Firat told to a reporter, who said that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan would meet with Chief of General Staff Hilmi Ozkok on Tuesday, that the meeting of Prime Minister and Chief of General Staff was not an abnormal situation.
Emphasizing that it could be a courtesy visit or an information meeting, Firat said that Chief of General Staff was affiliated with Prime Minister and their meeting in various times should be considered normal.
