State Minister Tuzmen Leaves For Turkmenistan

ISTANBUL - State Minister Kursad Tuzmen left on Sunday for Turkmenistan.
Prior to his departure, Tuzmen told reporters that he was going to Turkmenistan with a delegation of representatives of almost 150 companies.
Tuzmen said that he would meet with Turkmen President Saparmurat Turkmenbasi and ministers of trade, industry, textile, construction, economy and transportation.
Emphasizing that Turkmenistan was an important country with its developing economy, Tuzmen said that Turkey made 118 million U.S. dollars of export to Turkmenistan and 100 million U.S. million U.S. dollars of import from Turkmenistan.
Tuzmen stated that those figures had to be increased and that Turkish companies made 1.3 billion U.S. dollars of investment in Turkmenistan.
The projects undertaken by Turkish contracting companies in Turkmenistan between 1992 and 2002 reached 5.3 billion U.S. dollars, Tuzmen said.
Tuzmen added that he would return to Turkey on May 20.
