ANKARA - President Ahmet Necdet Sezer said he believed that Turkish citizens living in the United States made great contributions to announcement of Turkey's voice and defense of its interests.
Sezer said, ''it is our main wish for our young people, who constitute a strong tie with respect to the Turkish-U.S. relations, to become a respectable member of the society they live in without becoming stranger to their language and culture.''
Presidential Press Center issued a statement and said President Sezer sent a message to Turkish Day Parade in New York.
Sezer in the message thanked everybody for their contributions to this end.
Sezer said, ''as I stress every year, we attribute importance to our young people, who live in the united States, to keep their ties strong with their own cultures and motherland.''
Sezer also thanked to Federation of Turkish American Associations, associations and institutions for the contributions they make to the Turkish Day Parade and activities to promote Turkey in the United States.
