ANKARA - President Ahmet Necdet Sezer said on Saturday that he believed that Turkish-U.S. relations would have new dimensions with the contributions of dynamic Turkish society living in the United States in the following term.
A statement of Presidential Press Center said that Sezer sent a message to Turkish Night organized in New York.
Sezer said in his message that they were pleased with the continuation and increase of those activities which enabled Turkish citizens and kinsmen living in different parts of the United States to come together and to enhance their unity and solidarity.
Turks who immigrated to the United States for a better future reached a success in adaptation to the society with which they were living, Sezer noted and added that this success was worth appreciation.
Sezer pointed out that organizations and associations in the United States had a very successful role in development of a consciousness of society among the Turks living in that country without losing their own cultural values and congratulated all those organizations and associations.
In his message, Sezer also said, ''Turkish-U.S. relations, which are based on common values in a rooted and successful alliance and reached a strategic partnership level after the Cold War, have proved their strength during the developments recorded in our region. Turkey and the United States have made a closer cooperation to ensure peace and stability.''
Sezer added, ''cooperation between Turkey and the United States which contributed to international peace and stability in a fragile geography has been improved in several fields on the basis of strong friendship between our peoples. Turkey continues to be determined to fulfil the economic stability program and takes economic and political steps required for European Union (EU) full membership. Turkey, which has made strong structural changes, offers new cooperation possibilities to the United States.''
