AH- The new local election policy of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) including center right caused a discussion that “Does social democratic identity end?”
The first signal of the new expansion were said by Kemal Dervis, who said that they should be a big mass party, and that was named by Bulent Tanla as “ center democrat”. Leader of CHP Deniz Baykal, who evaluated the strategy as a revolution, announced that the people, who were on duty in the province or district administration of CHP, would not be candidate in the local elections.
Party organizations reacted against not being candidate in the elections saying that the decision had no legal basis.
CHP Secretary General Mehmet Sevigen said, “There is no disadvantage in participation of different party mayors to the CHP, while Former Secretary General Adnan Keskin and Cevdet Selvi said that, social democratic identity was sufficient for the CHP.
