BRUSSELS - Turkey and Greece are working on mutually lifting of embargo in Cyprus, sources said on Thursday.
Sources said that both countries were working on formulas aiming at lifting mutually embargoes which were imposed on both sides in Cyprus.
Sources stated that Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul, who is currently in Brussels for the meeting of the European Convention, and Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou discussed the issue on Thursday.
Several formulas are being reviewed on lifting of embargo imposed by Greece on TRNC and embargo imposed by Turkey on Greek Cypriot side.
Following his meeting with Papandreou, Gul told reporters that EU was expected to take important steps on Cyprus issue in the coming days.
''We expect that there will be important developments on Cyprus issue in the coming days,'' Gul said and noted that they wanted embargo imposed on TRNC to be lifted and he always brought onto the agenda this issue during his meetings with representatives of EU.
