GIRESUN - Prof. Dr. Mahir Aydin, Dean of Sinop Education Faculty of Ondokuz Mayis University, said on Thursday that on the contrary to genocide allegations against Armenians, Armenians committed genocide against Turkish people.
Prof. Dr. Aydin said in a conference on ''Unfounded Genocide Allegations'' that Turkish Republic did not have such a problem as ''Armenian issue'' and this problem came out due to policies against Turkey.
Noting that Turkish people did not commit genocide in any period of history and Turkish states were the states which sheltered minorities of many religions, Aydin said, ''if one asks example to genocide, mass slaughter of six million Jews by Nazi Germany in gas chambers can be shown. Turkish history has not lived any dark page in any period.''
Aydin said that external powers used minorities for their own interests by provoking them during the decline of Ottoman Empire and he added, ''on the contrary to genocide allegations against Armenians, Armenians committed genocide against Turkish people. They killed many of our soldiers by cooperating with external forces. Today, what Armenians wanted from Turkey is not a simple thing. Today, Armenians' aim is to make east of Turkey Eastern Armenia and the part in Anatolia, Western Armenia. Also, by going too far, they want 11 provinces, especially Sivas, Erzurum, Elazig, Bitlis, Van, Diyarbakir and Giresun.''
