ANKARA - The Republican People's Party (CHP) applied to the Constitutional Court on Thursday with the request for cancellation of fifteen articles of the 2003 Year Budget Law, defending that those articles were not in line with the Constitution.
Before submitting their petition to the court, CHP Parliamentary Group deputy chairmen Mustafa Ozyurek and Haluk Koc held a press conference.
They claimed that different provisions were included in the 2003 Year Budget Law although Article 161 of the Constitution foresaw that any provision which were not related with the budget could not be included in a budget law.
''We have requested the court to annul those fifteen articles and to cease validity of eleven others to prevent losses and damages and legal situations which can't be corrected or compensated in the future,'' they said.
