ANKARA - Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesman Huseyin Dirioz said on Wednesday, ''Turkey supports the 'road map', which was submitted to settle peace between Israel and Palestine. Turkey is ready to make any kind of contribution to this end.''
Speaking at the weekly press briefing, Dirioz said, ''Turkey welcomes recent developments in efforts to find a solution to the Arab-Israel dispute. The road map has given rise to hopes to settle peace in the region.''
Noting that U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell's notifying the sides that the United States was determined to implement the road map was positive, Dirioz told reporters, ''the international community should maintain its efforts to resume the peace process and to settle a lasting peace in the region on the basis of two states, which can exist side by side in peace and security. Turkey will continue to support all efforts to settle a fair and lasting peace in the Middle East. We are ready to make any kind of contribution to this end.''
