ANKARA - President Ahmet Necdet Sezer will complete three years in office on May 16, Friday.
Sezer, who was shown as a candidate for presidency by the leaders of the then coalition parties in power when he was the Chairman of the Constitutional Court, got 330 votes in the third round of presidential election held in the parliament on May 5, 2000 and was elected as the Tenth President of the Turkish Republic.
President Sezer, who will be in office for seven years due to the Constitution, took over the mission from the former President Suleyman Demirel on May 16, 2000.
