I returned to 15-20 years before in the match. Both teams did not want to lose and were in a position that they did not want draw, because draw was not useful for both. Despite that situation, both teams did not take risk.
In the first 20 minutes Genclerbirligi played without defense security. Although they were frontier with the score of 1-0, Galatasaray scored a goal because of lack of Genclerbirligi players. Although all the administrators supporters, players of Besiktas said “The important thing is our success not our rival’s matches”, I think the last 15 minutes passed very hard for them.
Consequently, Galatasaray lost a great advantage and remained its situation to miracles. Essentially, Galatasaray came from Trabzon by playing good soccer. They started the match well. The most critical times of the match were the offside flag, which vice referee lifted for Umit Karan, and the disability of Balic because Balic, Umit Karan and Arif are good trio against the defense of Genclerbirligi.
Fatih Terim started the play with the same forward as a correct choice and Galatasaray urged Genclerbirligi defense. After the disability of Balic, Lukunku entered the play; positive and rapid passes of Galatasaray ended and slipshod passes started towards Lukunku all around the field. This situation made easy for the Genclerbirligi’s play, they played better and they got counterattack opportunities. In the second half, both teams could not find any position except few weak attacks.
Besiktas benefited from the yesterday’s score and completed the week by taking 7 points.
