ANKARA - Necmettin Erbakan was chosen as the leader of the Felicity Party (SP) on Sunday.
The first regular congress of the SP was held in Ataturk Sports Hall in Ankara.
Erbakan became the new SP leader by winning all the valid votes which were counted as 960.
Necmettin Erbakan was the leader of the Welfare Party (RP).
Elected as deputy from central Konya province in October 20, 1991 elections, Erbakan again occupied a seat as a deputy at the parliament in the 1995 general elections.
Erbakan later formed the RP-True Path Party (DYP) coalition government and became the prime minister on June 28, 1996.
Necmettin Erbakan became the leader of his fourth party following MNP, MSP and RP.
Erbakan is married with three children.
