ANKARA - Foreign Ministry Coordinator for Reconstruction of Iraq Ahmet Okcun said on Tuesday that ''Turkey will take part in reconstruction process of Iraq whatever people say.''
Addressing the meeting on ''Reconstruction of Iraq'' held by Employers' Trade Union of Construction Industrialists (INTES), Okcun said that nobody knew what would happen in the future in Iraq and people had certain estimations about the business volume in Iraq from 100 billion dollars to 362 billion dollars.
Okcun said that Turkey had experience in the region and in Iraq, adding that none of the regional countries had the labour force, technology and experience like Turkey had. ''Therefore if people look for a partner in the region, they will find us. Whatever people say, Turkey will take part in this reconstruction process.''
When Chairman of the Association of Southeast Industrialists and Businessmen Bedrettin Karaboga said that Habur border gate was still closed although the war ended, Okcun said that Habur border gate was open. Okcun noted that the conditions for imposing the embargo also ended, adding that an open liberal system based on private sector would be formed in Iraq.
Okcun added that Turkey has to get 2 billion dollars from Iraq, adding Turkey will monitor that.
