MARMARIS - A briefing was given about Sea Lion-2003 Search and Rescue Manoeuvre which will be exercised in the international waters of the Aegean Sea on Wednesday in two stages.
Colonel Ahmet Erturk, the Operation Chairman of South Naval Command said in the briefing given in Aksaz Naval Base Command that the operation would be exercised in the international waters of Aegean Sea. The manoeuvre would be exercised in two stages, in the west of Rhodes island and in the south of Marmaris, said Erturk, noting that Admiral Yener Karahanoglu, the Commander of South Naval Command would direct the exercise.
Erturk also gave information about the scenario of the manoeuvre, adding that ''five life saving boats will rescue people in the sea, some of them will be taken to Marmaris State Hospital, and the others will have first emergency aid in the boats.''
Erturk said that three military observers from Jordan and two military observers from Congo will watch the manoeuvre which will last for one day and which will end at 17.00 local time.
