ANKARA - Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul spoke on Friday to U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell and Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom.
Sources said that Powell and Shalom called Gul and offered their condolences to him for people who died in the quake in Bingol.
Gul thanked Powell and Shalom for offering condolences and support which they extended for the quakes in the past.
Referring to his visit to Ankara, Powell told Gul that his visit was very positive and stated that cooperation would be carried on within the scope of the agreement which was reached. Gul informed Powell about his contacts in Syria and said that they were ready to make all kind of cooperation in postwar period.
Shalom told Gul that his visit to Ankara was very positive with respect to relations between the two countries. Foreign Minister Gul conveyed his willingness to continue holding contacts with Shalom and said that Turkey supported the road map which aimed to find a solution to the Middle East problem.
