RESCUE EFFORTS IN BINGOL VERY SUCCESSFUL
Military and civilian search and rescue teams which have experience due to August 17 quake came from several provinces of Turkey to southeastern Bingol province three hours after the quake. Those teams worked very hard to rescue people who were trapped under debris of buildings which collapsed due to the strong quake. But, local administration in Bingol was not as successful as search and rescue teams. A group of people in Bingol got angry since they could not get tents. Those people attacked police vehicles with stones. Windows of four police vehicles were broken down despite the intervention of gendarme forces. Also many windows of the Governor's office were broken down. Two gendarme forces and three journalists were injured by the stones.

QUAKE SHAKES KAYSERI
An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale shook central Kayseri province late on Friday. Bogazici University Kandilli Observatory and Seismology Institute said the quake occurred at 21.47 local time. Epicenter of the quake is Bunyan township of Kayseri. No casualties were reported.

GUL: ''EXTREME ELEMENTS IN DENOMINATIONAL VISION HARM TURKEY''
Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul explained the Denominational Vision in the parliament and said, ''extreme components in Islamic Community Denominational Vision give harm to Turkey. Those organizations are monitored and they should be monitored.'' Some Republican People's Party (CHP) deputies asked some questions about the circular on the organization and Fethullah Gulen, to Gul in the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Commission. Gul said that strong relations with Denominational Vision harmed their political party which had been closed down and Turkey's EU process.

DENKTAS: ''WE ARE NOT MINORITY''
Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas said that Greek Cypriot administration considered Turkish Cypriots as minority and as their citizens, stating that, ''we are neither minority nor their citizens. We are people of TRNC. Half of the problem will be solved when Greek Cypriots accept this fact.''

TWO REASONS OF ANGER IN BINGOL:INCOMPETENCE AND DISCRIMINATION CLAIMS
All sorts of aid were sent to eastern Bingol province where a major earthquake took place. The number of both tents and bread was sufficient, however they were not distributed properly and the tension escalated in the city. People were very sad in Bingol as they lost their relatives and as their houses collapsed in the earthquake. They spent the first night outside and people were tense. People decided to demonstrate when it was heard that some people were discriminated in getting tents. Police fired in the air to end the incidents, but this didn't work out.

TWO POLICE CHIEF LAID OFF
Bingol Security Chief and Acting Director of Special Operation Department were laid off following yesterday's incidents in eastern Bingol province, which was hit by earthquake. Police fired in the air when people decided to demonstrate yesterday. Gendarme undertook the mission of ensuring security in the city as police was not capable of doing it. Bingol Security Chief Osman Nuri Ozdemir and Acting Director of Special Operation Department Mehmet Turkoglu were dismissed temporarily as they were not able to stop the incidents.

HISTORIC MEETING IN KAS
Foreign Ministers of EU started a series of meetings which will also cover Turkey. The foreign ministers who came together in Rhodes island of Greece yesterday, will come to Kastellorizo island of Greece and then to Kas, Turkey. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul who will attend the meeting and lunch in Kastellorizo, will host dinner for the ministers in Hera Hotel of Kas. The EU foreign ministers are expected to come to Kas from Kastellorizo at 17.30 and leave Turkey at 19.30. Kas meeting of EU foreign ministers is important as foreign ministers of 25 countries will come together in a non-EU country for the first time. Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister George Yakovu and Foreign Minister Gul will be in the same family photo.

ENES GUNCEL RESCUED 30 HOURS AFTER QUAKE
Yusuf Katkay was rescued after spending 24 hours under the debris of boarding primary school and 13-year-old Enes Guncel was also rescued from the rubble 30 hours later the quake. Rescuers applauded as Guncel, apparently with only slight injuries, was carried down on a stretcher and quickly put in ambulance. But hopes began to fade as the bodies of 40 children were found. Enes became the last student which was pulled out alive from the debris of school.

FOREIGN MINISTER GUL GIVES A BRIEFING IN PARLIAMENTARY FOREIGN AFFAIRS COMMISSION
Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul gave a briefing in Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Commission on Friday. Gul said that Turkey had still 4,000 soldiers in north of Iraq. Upon question of Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy Onur Oymen, Gul said, ''we monitor north of Iraq. We have 4,000 soldiers in the region. We sent five trucks of aid materials to Mosul and Kirkuk.''

ERDOGAN: ''INCIDENT IN BINGOL IS PROVOCATION''
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said after clashes between police and a group of people in Bingol province that there were serious provocative actions in Bingol and called people to be calm. Stating that 500 tents were erected in Bingol, he said that not much interest was shown in those tents. ''sending of tents continue. We have ordered five thousand tents to be sent at the first stage. Around 500 tents were set up in tent site. However, not more than 25 percent of them are full. Everybody wants tents near their houses,'' he added.

DAK BATTALION PULLS OUT 20 PEOPLE FROM DEBRIS
General Staff said that Special Forces Command Natural Disaster Search and Rescue (DAK) battalion, which was sent to southeastern Bingol province after the quake, pulled out 13 people alive and seven dead bodies in Celtiksuyu in Bingol. General Staff Secretariat General said in a statement that teams of Land Forces Command and Gendarmerie Command in the region launched search and rescue efforts and started to erect tents in the quake zone.

EVEN QUAKE GRIEF HAS BEEN MANIPULATED
A group of persons who could not get tents held a demonstration in front of Bingol Governor's Office yesterday. The demonstration which started innocently, suddenly turned into a clash when PKK militants, who came to Bingol for May 1 celebrations, started to throw stones at police vehicles. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that there were provocateurs behind the incidents.
