BINGOL - Tension, caused by protest of people in southeastern Bingol province as they could not get tents after quake, escalated. Special Forces Team opened gunfire on the air to calm down the incidents, but this further escalated the atmosphere.
8th Army Corps Commander gen. Ethem Erdag and Bingol Brigade Commander Gen. Ismail Serdar Savas came to calm down the angry crowd near Bingol Governor's Office.
As efforts were underway to disperse the crowd, a group of people attacked police vehicles with marbles on the ground and shovels.
Windows of four police vehicles were broken down despite the intervention of gendarme forces. Also many windows of the Governor's office were broken down. Two gendarme forces and three journalists were injured by the stones.
