IS THERE ANY DIFFERENCE?
One planted bomb in the United States killing 168 people, and the other used not sufficiently qualified material in Bingol and caused death of many people.
Two schools collapsed and particularly the state buildings were damaged in quake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale. Two contractor companies, who were banned to set up buildings, are behind the construction of Celtiksuyu Boarding School dormitory which totally collapsed.

EXPERTS: DON'T USE DAMAGED BUILDINGS
Around 260 aftershocks were recorded following the quake in Bingol measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale. The magnitudes of the quake change between 2.9 and 4.5. Kandilli Observatory Director Prof. Gulay Barborosoglu warned the citizens not to enter the damaged building.

QUAKE CATCHES BINGOL AT SLEEP: 83 DIE 499 OTHERS INJURED
Earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale jolted southeastern Bingol province for 17 seconds. Three-storey boarding school dormitory, which the contractor with insufficient material, became a graveyard to children.
Quake hit Bingol at 03.27 local time on Thursday morning. As always happened, the biggest damage was recorded in state buildings. The real calamity happened when Celtiksuyu Boarding School dormitory totally collapsed. There were 198 students at the dormitory.

GERMAN AMBASSADOR APOLOGIZES
After Milliyet Newspaper revealed that Justice and Development Party (AK Party) was included among list of organizations which have objectionable features, Ankara became confused. Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul called German Ambassador in Ankara Schmidt and reacted. Schmidt said they would immediately correct the mistake.

PRIME MINISTER ERDOGAN VISIT BINGOL WHERE QUAKE TOOK PLACE
Quake, measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale, shook Bingol at 03.27 local time on Thursday. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, National Education Minister Huseyin Celik and other officials went to Bingol to examine the quake zone. Erdogan visited Celtiksuyu boarding primary school dormitory which collapsed due to the strong quake. Stating that the Union of Turkish Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) promised that it would construct 500 dwellings in the region, Erdogan said that it would meet the demand. Erdogan said that dwellings would be finished within eight months at the latest.

TURKEY'S EXPORTS INCREASE 36 PERCENT IN THE FIRST FOUR MONTH OF 2003
Turkey's exports increased 36 percent to 14 billion U.S. dollars in the first four month of 2003. Turkey exported products worth of 10 billion U.S. dollars in the same period of last year. According to data of Turkey Exporters' Assembly (TIM), Turkey exported products worth of 3 billion 740 million U.S. dollars in April 2003.

AK PARTY TENSES COMMANDERS ON PURPOSE
Military members during the National Security Council (NSC) meeting stressed that circulars which included National View to state protocol and which supported schools of Fetullah Gulen were issued on purpose. A military member stated that tension about headscarf escalated on purpose, noting that capability was not the essence in appointments in state administration.
Military members who harshly criticized AK Party during the meeting, and talked on the texts which they earlier prepared.

AGAIN SUFFERING AGAIN TEAR DROPS
Turkey woke up with fact of earthquake on Thursday morning. The epicenter of the earthquake is again southeastern Bingol province. More than 100 people died and around 500 people were injured at the quake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale. The quake revealed that Turkey did not take lesson from the past. About 260 aftershocks were recorded following the main quake which was also felt in surrounding provinces.

ORGANIZED POLITICAL CRIME
At least 80 people died in southeastern Bingol province after the quake. A total of 28 students and a teacher died in the school which was made for ''election campaign''. About 100 children are still trapped under the debris.
Many houses and business places collapsed at the quake. Collapse of Celtiksuyu Boarding School dormitory, in which there were 198 students and three teachers, was an open evidence that disaster was not caused by quake but cooperation of ''politicians-contractors-bureaucrats''.

EXPERTS ARE FURIOUS
Experts harshly reacted after quake which hit Bingol province. TUBITAK Marmara Research Center Chairman Prof. Naci Gorur said, ''this is inside the fault. It would be abnormal if quake did not happen. I am ashamed to say that 'I knew there would be quake''.''
Prof. Gorur said, ''now that they would get on the plane and go there to heal the wounds. This is an attitude that does not respect person. For years, we call on them to make cooperation. I applied almost everybody. May be those people would not have died.''

QUAKE SHAKES BINGOL AND DEATH TOLL IS AROUND 100
The quake, measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale, shook Bingol at 03.27 local time on Thursday and death toll is around 100. Four-floor boarding school where 198 children stayed collapsed due to the strong quake and steel bunk beds and wardrobes saved 93 children. A total of 28 students died. Injured people were given medical treatment in garden of hospitals.

BARBOROSOGLU: ''PEOPLE SHOULD NOT ENTER BUILDINGS''
Gulay Barbarosoglu, the head of the Bogazici University (BU) Kandilli Observatory and Seismology Institute said that more than 260 aftershocks were recorded following the strong earthquake in Bingol province and warned citizens not to enter damaged buildings. Barbarosoglu who held a press conference gave information about the quake. Recalling that a quake, measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale, took place 16 kilometers northeastern of Bingol at 03.27 local time, Barbarosoglu said that quake occurred in fault system of Eastern Anatolia region. Barbarosoglu said that the quake occurred in 10 kilometers depth below the earth surface in Bingol and lasted for 17-20 seconds.

NATIONAL EDUCATION MINISTRY TO EXAMINE SCHOOLS
Boarding primary schools of National Education Ministry collapsed due to strong quake which shook southeastern Bingol province on Thursday. National Education Ministry launched initiatives since schools were seriously damaged due to the earthquake. National Education Minister Huseyin Celik wanted officials to carry out damage assessment in damaged schools in Bingol with coordination of housing provincial directorates.
