Quake In Bingol

BINGOL - An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale shook southeastern Bingol province on Thursday. Many buildings were damaged, and soldiers participate in rescue efforts.
Bogazici University Kandilli Observatory and Seismology Institute said the quake occurred at 03.27 local time.
The quake was also felt in some provinces of Eastern Mediterranean.
A.A correspondent said a four buildings totally collapsed in city center.
Efforts are underway to rescue those who are stranded under the debris.
Fire brigades try to put out the fire which broke out in a house on Kultur Street. Officials are concerned that many people are stranded under the building.
KALAFAT: QUAKE, WHICH OCCURRED IN 15 KM NORTHEAST OF BINGOL IS MASSIVE
Bogazici University Kandilli Observatory and Seismology Institute Laboratory Chief Dogan Kalafat said the quake, which occurred in 15 km northeast of Bingol province was massive, stating that, ''22 aftershocks are recorded so far''.
Stating that the quake happened at Eastern Anatolia Fault Line, Kalafat said, ''this is a massive earthquake. Aftershocks will continue. I recommend those, whose houses are damaged, not to enter their houses.''
19 PEOPLE DIED ACCORDING TO FIRST ESTIMATIONS
A total of 19 people were killed in quake in southeastern Bingol province according to first estimations.
Officials said seven people, who were stranded under debris in city center, died, stating that nine others were killed in Sancak Hamlet. They said three people died in Goltepe Village.
Officials said there were many injured people.
It was stated that damage recorded in state buildings.
