LEFKOSA - TRNC Council of Ministers convened on Tuesday under the leadership of TRNC Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu to discuss free passages between TRNC and Greek Cypriot side.
Speaking before the cabinet meeting, TRNC Prime Minister Eroglu said that they would discuss the issues of permitting Greek Cypriots to spend nights in TRNC hotels and of opening new gates for passages.
Noting that the passage of cars from Ledra Palace caused traffic jam in the city, TRNC Prime Minister Eroglu said that they started studies to open a separate entry gate in Kermiya region of Lefkosa for passage of cars and the cabinet would give a decision about it. Eroglu said that Kermiya gate would be ready for passages within few days.
Eroglu said that they also thought of opening new border gates, adding that Security Forces Command and police had to make assessments in these regions first regarding security and needs.
When reminded that Greek Cypriots would take part in May 1 celebrations in TRNC, Eroglu said that they would take the necessary measures for that. ''It is probably not natural for foreigners to come to TRNC from the south to hold a demonstration here,'' Eroglu said.
